A plastic surgeon in practice in New York City since 1980, John E. Sherman, M.D. is Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Sherman operates and admits his patients to Manhattan's finest hospitals. He is an attending plastic surgeon at The New York Presbyterian Hospital and at Lenox Hill Hospital. Dr. Sherman also operates in his own facility which is fully accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).

Dr. Sherman, who devotes most of his New York practice to aesthetic surgery, specializes in facial rejuvenation and body contouring. An expert in liposuction, he was one of the first plastic surgeons in the United States trained to perform ultrasonic-assisted liposuction, a state-of-the-art technique. Dr. Sherman is also highly experienced with breast augmentation and revisional breast surgery. As a result of his expertise, Dr. Sherman is regularly consulted by patients throughout the world. Board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, Dr. Sherman is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is also a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society of Maxillofacial Surgeons, he is a member of the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons (NYRSPS) and is President (through 2008) of the Manhattan Council of the American College of Surgeons, representing over 1,100 surgeons. Dr. Sherman attended New York Medical College and trained at Montefiore Hospital Medical Center and The New York Hospital - Cornell Medical Center, where he was appointed chief resident in plastic surgery. He also did a fellowship in reconstructive plastic surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Sherman is the co-author of Surgery of Facial Bone Fractures, a surgical textbook used by plastic surgeons throughout the world, and has been published widely in numerous medical journals. He is frequently quoted in such magazines as Vogue, Elle, Good Housekeeping, Glamour, W, and Tatler, and has been featured on many local and national television news programs over the last 20 years of his practice.

Sherman, pictured with Michael Scagnelli, Chief of the New York City Police Department, was inducted into the Honor Legion of the New York Police Department. This was given to Dr. Sherman for his response to the World Trade Center attacks, in which he was injured. The Honor Legion is among the highest honors given by the New York Police Department. Dr. Sherman is an Honorary Surgeon for the NYPD as well as Surgeon for the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), New York Field Division.

Dr. Sherman, the father of two children, resides in New York City with his wife, Emily.
