Breast Reconstruction
Operation: Dr. Sherman performs breast
reconstruction for mastectomy patients. This may be performed
using an implant or by creating the breast with the use of
the skin, muscle and fat of the abdomen (TRAM). Breast reconstruction
may be performed delayed after mastectomy, or in conjunction
with a breast surgeon at the time of mastectomy. These operations
are performed at The New York Hospital Cornell University
Medical Center, or at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.
Insurance reimbursement varies, but generally this procedure
is covered by insurance companies.
