Cohesive Gel Breast Implants from New York Plastic Surgeon John E. Sherman

Style 410 Silicone-Filled Breast Implant

Dr. Sherman has been chosen as one of a limited number of investigators for the Allergan Inamed 410 Cohesive Gel breast implants.

Dr. Sherman, in conjunction with Allergan Inamed Corporation, is currently seeking participants for a clinical study of silicone-filled breast implants. Dr. Sherman may offer you the new 410 Cohesive Gel implant if you are considering surgery involving:

  • breast reconstruction following mastectomy
  • replacement of existing breast implant(s)

The purpose of this study is to gather long-term data on the safety and effectiveness of silicone-filled breast implants and to provide participating surgeons with additional experience with the Allergan Inamed Corporation Cohesive Gel Style 410 Silicone-Filled Breast Implants Style prior to submission of the study data to the FDA.

The criteria for entry into the study are limited to the above patients, and are not available for patients seeking new breast augmentation.

The Style410 Silicone-Filled Breast Implants were created by McGhan Medical to provide another shaped alternative to the round breast implant. These breast implants defy the one-shape fits all limitation associated with traditional round breast implants. Style 410 Silicone-Filled Breast Implants are available in an innovative combination of height, width, and projection options, ultimately resulting in the largest selection of uniquely different breast implants from which the plastic surgeon can choose.

The CoheSIL™silicone fill is more cohesive than standard silicone gel fills.

McGhan Medical Style 410 Breast Implants consist of CoheSIL™ sili-cone fill encased in a silicone elastomer shell. The shell features the BIOCELL® textured surface and INTRASHIEL® barrier.

  • The CoheSIL™ silicone fill is more cohesive than standard silicone gel fills;
  • The BIOCELL® textured surface is designed to promote tissue adherence which helps maintain proper implant position within the surgical pocket, and may reduce capsular contracture;
  • The INTRASHIEL® shell features a patented design to minimize silicone diffusion;
  • Orientation marks are conveniently located on the anterior and posterior surfaces of the implant and assist in visual and tactile positioning within the surgical pocket;
  • Choice of uniquely different breast implant configurations provide the capability for the plastic surgeon to optimize aesthetic results.

The CoheSIL® silicone gel fill does not leak, even whenr substantial pressure has been applied,the CoheSIL® silicone gel fill will not leak.

After pressure is released, the silicone gel fill returns to its normal shape.

The shell of the 410 is the same "textured biocell" durable shell that McGhan has used for years. Here it is shown held flat, after being cut away from an implant. Even under this great stress, the shell remains pliable and intact.
